Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the proposed master plan for the comprehensive development of the Madan Mohan Malaviya Oriental Research Institute, Rishikul, in Haridwar, at a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence.
During the meeting, officials presented details of the proposed structure of the institution and various activities planned under the master plan.
Chief Minister Dhami directed that Rishikul be developed as a major centre for Ayurveda, yoga and the Indian knowledge tradition. He said special emphasis should be placed on Ayurveda, health tourism, yoga, astrology and Vedic mathematics.
He directed officials to develop high-quality academic, research and study facilities in these fields so that the institution can serve as an effective bridge between India’s traditional knowledge systems and modern research.
The Chief Minister said Ayush, yoga and Sanskrit are distinctive aspects of Uttarakhand’s identity as Devbhoomi and this heritage should be prominently reflected in the development of Rishikul.
He directed that the architectural design of the campus should be inspired by ancient and traditional architectural styles. While the external appearance of the buildings should reflect traditional architecture, modern facilities should also be provided across the campus.
He stressed the need for a balanced blend of tradition and modernity to give the campus a distinctive identity.
Dhami said the entire campus should be developed in a manner that allows visitors to experience India’s culture, knowledge and spirituality.
Haridwar attracts a large number of pilgrims and tourists from India and abroad. In this context, he said Rishikul should be developed as a major centre where visitors can learn about and experience India’s rich heritage of traditional knowledge, Ayurveda, yoga and spirituality.
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all components of the project in a phased and time-bound manner. Clear phases and deadlines should be established, with the entire project targeted for completion within two years.
The proposed master plan envisions Rishikul as an integrated centre for yoga and meditation, higher education, Ayurveda and holistic healthcare, Indian philosophy, Vedic and classical studies, art and culture, and research activities.
