Haridwar: Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan on Thursday inspected various construction sites in Haridwar to review preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027.
Accompanied by senior officials, the Chief Secretary visited Rodi-Belwala, Roshanabad, Kankhal, Dakshdweep, Bairagi Camp and the CCR Tower area to assess the progress and quality of ongoing construction works and other arrangements.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to complete all Kumbh-related construction projects within the stipulated deadlines and made it clear that there would be no compromise on quality.
He also instructed officials to conduct regular reviews and on-site monitoring and to resolve any obstacles affecting construction work immediately.
During the inspection, he reviewed the administrative road project in the Rodi-Belwala area and redevelopment works around Har Ki Pauri.
He also inspected the reconstruction of ghats between Hathipul and Alaknanda and directed officials to install strong railings and chains to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
The Chief Secretary reviewed road renovation work in the Rishikul area, improvements at Shivmurti Chowk and Shankar Ashram Chowk, as well as junction improvement and pedestrian pathway construction from Bhagat Singh Chowk to Bilkeshwar.
He also reviewed the progress of the medicine store under construction at Roshanabad and the 60-metre-long bridge being constructed in the Dakshdweep-Bairagi area.
At the CCR-2 building, the Chief Secretary directed officials to expedite construction and ensure that the building is completed before the Kumbh begins. He said work could be carried out round the clock if necessary.
After the inspection, a meeting was held at Dam Kothi with Kumbh Mela and district administration officials to review construction works and other preparations.
The Chief Secretary directed executing agencies to deploy adequate manpower and machinery to accelerate construction.
He said a large number of pilgrims from across India and abroad are expected to attend Kumbh Mela 2027. Therefore, all works related to roads, bridges, pedestrian pathways, drinking water, healthcare, parking and other facilities must be completed on time.
Officials were also directed to prepare a concrete action plan for crowd management, traffic regulation, alternative routes and security arrangements.
The Chief Secretary said all departments would have to work as a team to ensure that pilgrims return from Haridwar with a safe, smooth and positive experience.
