Haridwar,: The 50th anniversary celebrations of Delhi Public School (DPS) Ranipur featured a vibrant blend of literature, culture and education at the Swarn Akshar-2026 समारोह.
Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The national song, Vande Mataram, was also performed during the programme.
Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan said the name Swarn Akshar carries a special significance. While gold symbolises preciousness, words represent a medium through which thoughts, imagination and human emotions are expressed.
He said completing 50 years is a matter of pride and achievement for any institution. An institution, he added, is built not merely through buildings and classrooms but through the contributions of its students, teachers and everyone associated with it.
The Chief Secretary said literature has become even more important in the age of technology and artificial intelligence. The enormous amount of information available around us cannot automatically be considered knowledge. Literature develops the ability to ask questions, think critically and expand one’s understanding.
He urged students not to restrict themselves to their academic curriculum and encouraged them to read widely. He said that while embracing modernity, it is equally important to remain connected with one’s culture, traditions and roots.
He advised students to periodically ask themselves three questions: What have I learned? What have I contributed? And whom have I helped?
The Chief Secretary appreciated the efforts of teachers who have contributed to the development of the school and said DPS students are well prepared to play an important role in building a developed India.
A short film showcasing the 50-year journey of DPS Ranipur was screened during the event. Students also presented a series of classical and cultural performances that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
BJP district president Ashutosh Sharma, Shivalik Nagar Municipality chairman Rajiv Sharma, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, BHEL Chief Financial Officer Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi, Executive Director Ranjan Kumar, school principal Anupam Jagga, vice-principal Dr Pavinder Singh, academic vice-principal Anupama Srivastava, co-vice chairman NS Rana, teachers, students and parents were present on the occasion.
