Dehradun. Preparations for the second phase of Census-2027 have intensified. The Directorate of Census Operations launched a two-day training camp in Dehradun for charge officers, technical assistants, and census personnel deployed across urban and rural zones. Municipal Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K.K. Mishra inaugurated the workshop.
Phase 2 of Census-2027 is proposed to take place from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027. Municipal Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey noted that the census serves as the primary source for social, economic, and demographic data nationwide. This iteration will be conducted via an online portal to facilitate field data entry and operations.
ADM (Finance & Revenue) K.K. Mishra explained that during the census, details regarding family and social dynamics—including parents, marital status, divorce, single-parent households, nationality, and caste—will be recorded as per prescribed guidelines. Procedures for recording information on foreign visitors on visas or individuals traveling without permits in designated zones were also explained.
Joint Director Devendra Singh and the Deputy Director from the Census Directorate detailed procedural guidelines, while Pradeep Yadav and Kuldeep Chauhan demonstrated data entry, online protocols, and field troubleshooting using the census portal.
