Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer, has announced that he will take up the long-pending promotions of 37 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (Additional SP) with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The affected DSPs belong to the 1991, 1995, and 1996 batches, and their promotion process has been stalled for an extended period due to pending court litigations filed by officers over seniority and vacancy disputes.

Officers from the Hyderabad zone also expressed a positive response toward withdrawing their litigations.
DGP Anand assured the officers that once legal hurdles are cleared, he will personally pursue the matter with the state government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to expedite the promotion process.
Background on Seniority Dispute
This development follows broader efforts by the state police leadership to address administrative backlogs. In July, DGP Anand constituted a six-member committee to examine complaints related to seniority, Inspector vacancies, and related service issues raised by 1991-batch officers. Clearances from the officers withdrawing their cases are expected to pave the way for resolving these long-standing promotion hurdles in the Telangana Police Department.
