Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the objective of education is not merely to make students academically and professionally successful, but also to mold them into responsible citizens imbued with strong values. Alongside modern education, knowledge of Indian culture, traditions, and life values is essential. He urged students to make discipline, honesty, and hard work the foundation of their lives.
The Chief Minister attended the Sanskar Divas and Foundation Day celebrations of The TOSS Bridge School in Dehradun on Wednesday as the chief guest. Extending best wishes to students, teachers, and parents, he said that Sanskar Divas is an occasion to reaffirm one’s commitment to Indian culture and values. Knowledge shows the path forward, while moral values (sanskars) teach how to walk in the right direction.
Dhami noted that the school was inaugurated in 2015 by former President and eminent scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. His life remains an inspiration for students. Advising students to read Dr. Kalam’s autobiography Wings of Fire, he said that alongside dreaming big, continuous hard work and firm resolve are essential to realizing those dreams.
Referencing the highlights of Indian culture, the Chief Minister said that the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam inspires respect for all, reverence for elders, and assistance to those in need. Citing the school’s motto ‘Jnanam Bharah Kriyam Bina’, he remarked that knowledge is incomplete without action. Knowledge becomes meaningful only when utilized for the benefit of society and the nation.
Over 35,000 Youth Given Government Jobs in Five Years
The Chief Minister noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly advancing in technology, innovation, and modern science. In this context, while attaining proficiency in modern subjects, students should also make yoga, meditation, discipline, and moral values an integral part of their lives. A synthesis of modern knowledge and Indian values will fortify students’ personalities.
Dhami highlighted that the National Education Policy places special emphasis on the holistic development, skills, and creativity of students. The state government is also aligning the education system with future needs. Youths are being encouraged not only to secure jobs but also to generate employment through self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Touching upon transparency in recruitment processes, the Chief Minister mentioned that a strict anti-cheating law has been enacted to prevent leaks and irregularities in competitive exams. Through transparent recruitment systems, over 35,000 youth have been appointed to government jobs in the past five years.
Addressing the students, the Chief Minister said that there are no shortcuts to success. Hard work, discipline, honesty, and a continuous desire to learn are the true foundations of success. Instead of being discouraged by failures, one should learn from them and move forward toward their goals.
He reiterated that the state government is committed to fulfilling its resolve to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country. Educated, cultured, skilled, and self-reliant youth will play a key role in achieving this goal. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the school’s students will bring pride to the state and nation through their knowledge, talent, and good values. School management, teachers, parents, students, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
