BJP to Launch ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao Yatra’ in Response to Congress’s Nyay Yatra, Announces CM Dhami

Dehradun: Political activities have intensified between the BJP and the Congress ahead of the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections. Amid the Uttarakhand Nyay Yatra of the Congress, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that the BJP will launch the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao Yatra’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy Yatra). Launching a scathing attack on the Congress during a press conference at the BJP state office on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the party ruled the country for nearly six decades but is now attempting to mislead the public.

Chief Minister Dhami also hit back at the questions raised by the Congress regarding the functioning of the Election Commission. He stated that the Congress has also won elections held under the very same Election Commission. According to him, accepting the democratic system when winning an election and questioning the same system upon losing is inappropriate. He urged political parties to reflect on their attitude toward democratic institutions.

Questions Raised on Congress’s Nyay Yatra

Regarding the Congress’s Nyay Yatra, the Chief Minister said that public trust cannot be won merely by taking out yatras and raising slogans. For this, it is necessary to go among the people, understand their problems, and work for their welfare. He alleged that upon failing to receive expected public support, instead of reviewing its political standing, the Congress blames the public.

Dhami stated that the opposition should present its case before the public based on its policies and actions. Through the BJP’s proposed yatra, the party will respond to Congress’s allegations and put forth its stance regarding democratic institutions before the public.

Padyatra in Srinagar on October 31 and Dehradun on November 2

The Chief Minister announced that under the BJP’s padyatra, programs will be held in Srinagar on October 31 and Dehradun on November 2. A padyatra will also be taken out in Udham Singh Nagar, though the date and detailed schedule for that region were not specified.

While the Congress is raising various issues among the public through its Nyay Yatra, the BJP has announced its counter-yatra. Ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, these campaigns by both major parties indicate heightened political mudslinging in the state.
