Why Raise Allegations After 22 Years Together? CM Dhami Raises Questions on Rekha Arya-Girdhari Dispute, Says Culprit Will Be Determined Only After Investigation

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasized the need for an impartial investigation into the ongoing dispute between Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya and her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu. He stated that no one can be considered guilty merely on the basis of allegations made by someone or audio recordings of conversations coming to light. The guilty party will be only the one proven guilty based on investigation and law.

Speaking during a press conference organized at the BJP state headquarters on Wednesday regarding the upcoming programs of the government and organization, the Chief Minister was asked a question on this dispute. In response, he said that the matter is extremely sensitive and it is also necessary to understand the circumstances under which the allegations were made. He questioned why, when both lived together for 22 years, such allegations were not made for such a long time, and what the reason is for them coming to the fore now.

The Chief Minister said that mentioning a person’s name in a conversation does not prove that they are also involved in the matter. Instead of treating audio recordings and statements as the ultimate truth, their veracity must be investigated. It would be appropriate to reach a conclusion only after understanding all aspects of the entire case.

Dhami stated that no one can be declared guilty from a political perspective. Trying to gain political mileage on the basis of allegations does not prove anyone’s crime either. The investigation must be conducted in an impartial manner based on facts, so that injustice is not done to any innocent person and the guilty do not escape the clutches of the law. He said that the truth must come out clearly (“milk should be milk, and water should be water”).

The Chief Minister was also questioned regarding the alleged circulated audio recordings of Urmila and Suresh Rathore. To this, he said that all recordings that have surfaced in such sensitive matters should be investigated. There should remain no doubt in the investigation, and action must be taken strictly in accordance with the law.

Notably, Rekha Arya had recently registered a case against her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu at the Cantt police station in Dehradun, leveling serious allegations including domestic violence and assault. Following this, Girdhari Lal Sahu also released a video accusing Rekha Arya of corruption worth around ₹200 crore. Amid the allegations leveled by both sides, the Chief Minister has now stated that individuals will be held guilty only on the basis of investigation findings.
