Haridwar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first Patanjali Ayurveda Gurukulam at Patanjali Wellness Yoggram located in Aurangabad, Haridwar, on Wednesday. He congratulated Yog Guru Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, and the Patanjali family on the launch of the Gurukulam.
The Chief Minister said that Haridwar is a major center of faith, culture, and Sanatan tradition. In this context, the launch of Patanjali Ayurveda Gurukulam is a significant initiative toward connecting India’s ancient knowledge tradition with modern education. He added that the Gurukul tradition has not been limited merely to textbook knowledge; rather, it fosters values, discipline, character building, and a sense of responsibility toward society among students.
Coordination of Modern Science with Indian Life Values Essential
The Chief Minister stated that in today’s rapidly changing world, education combining modern knowledge with values, discipline, and a balanced lifestyle is essential. The integration of modern science and technology with yoga, Ayurveda, Indian culture, and life values at the Gurukulam will connect the new generation to its roots while preparing them for future challenges.
He remarked that modernity and tradition are not opposed to each other, but complementary. A Center for Hindu Studies has been established at Doon University to promote research and study in Indian knowledge traditions, philosophy, and culture.
Emphasis on Science, Research, and Innovation
The Chief Minister noted that work is also underway in Uttarakhand to promote science, research, and innovation. The country’s fifth Science City is being developed in Dehradun. Along with aligning youth skills to future needs, a favorable ecosystem is being created for startups and innovation.
He stated that a strict anti-copying law has been implemented to ensure transparency in government recruitments across the state. Over the past nearly five years, around 35,000 youth have secured employment opportunities in government services.
Focus on Making Uttarakhand a Global Center for Knowledge, Yoga, and Ayurveda
The Chief Minister emphasized that efforts are being made to develop Uttarakhand not only as a tourism hub but also as a major global center for knowledge, yoga, Ayurveda, and spirituality. Patanjali Ayurveda Gurukulam can play a crucial role in this direction. He expressed confidence that in the coming times, this institution will emerge as a prominent study center for knowledge, science, yoga, and Ayurveda for students from across the country and the world.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik, MLA Adesh Chauhan, MLA Ravi Bahadur, former Cabinet Minister Swami Yatishwaranand, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh Bhullar, alongside several public representatives, officials, and students of the Patanjali institution.
