Approval for establishment of tribal institute in Uttarakhand, Centre sanctions funds

Dehradun. A major step has been taken toward strengthening development and educational infrastructure in tribal areas of Uttarakhand. Approval has been granted for the establishment of the Uttarakhand Tribal Target Institute, for which the central government has sanctioned ₹1 crore.

The proposal was approved by the Centre on the request of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram informed about the sanction through a letter, stating that the amount has been approved under the financial year 2025–26.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Minister, stating that the institute will create new opportunities for tribal youth in education, skill development, and research.

He emphasized that the state government is committed to the overall development of tribal regions, and this initiative will provide better opportunities for local youth while contributing to social and economic upliftment.

The institute will promote education and skill development in tribal areas, strengthen infrastructure, empower Eklavya model residential schools, and guide students toward higher education.

It will also help students prepare for prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIMs. This initiative is considered a significant step toward improving education and development in tribal areas of Uttarakhand.
