Rishikesh: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the 117th Executive Committee Meeting of the All India Mayors’ Council in Rishikesh on Wednesday and delivered a strong message on urban development. During the event, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for three projects worth ₹29.78 crore.
Welcoming mayors from across the country, the Chief Minister said that cities are not only centers of development but also reflections of the nation’s aspirations and future. He emphasized that every mayor, as the first citizen of a city, represents the trust and expectations of the people and therefore plays a crucial role in urban development.
Dhami stated that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India has witnessed historic progress in urban development. Schemes such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, Smart Cities Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and PM SVANidhi have transformed urban landscapes across the country.
Referring to the Char Dham Yatra, he said that more than 3 million pilgrims had visited the shrines within the first 45 days of this year’s pilgrimage, setting a new record. He also noted growing numbers of visitors to Adi Kailash and Purnagiri Temple.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for:
- EV charging stations at 10 locations under Rishikesh Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹1.80 crore.
- Rainwater harvesting projects at 12 locations costing ₹4.83 crore.
- A compost plant and sanitary landfill facility under a solid waste management project costing ₹23.15 crore.
Dhami emphasized that clean, safe, and well-managed cities are the foundation of a developed India. He said that if cities become self-reliant and modern, India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation will accelerate significantly.
The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers Subodh Uniyal and Ram Singh Kaida, MLA Premchand Aggarwal, Rishikesh Mayor Shambhu Paswan, and mayors from various urban local bodies across India.
