Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with students at Doon University and answered their questions. During the interaction, students asked the Chief Minister about preventing migration, creating employment opportunities for young people, developing Uttarakhand as a hub for higher education, the growing impact of science, technology and artificial intelligence, and the problem of traffic congestion in Dehradun.
Responding to questions on preventing migration and connecting young people with employment opportunities, the Chief Minister said that the process of reverse migration is now progressing rapidly in the state. He said that efforts are being made to provide new employment and self-employment opportunities to youth through the Chief Minister’s Udyamshala Scheme, Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme and Solar Self-Employment Scheme, as well as through tourism, industrial and film policies. He added that the government is also paying special attention to strengthening self-help groups and increasing livelihood opportunities at the local level.
The Chief Minister said that special attention is being given to modernising higher educational institutions and expanding infrastructure in order to strengthen higher education in Uttarakhand. The country’s fifth Science City is being constructed in Dehradun. This will create new opportunities in the fields of science and research and enable young people to access modern scientific resources.
On questions related to employment prospects in the era of science, technology and artificial intelligence, the Chief Minister said that technological changes are also transforming the nature of employment. New technologies are rapidly creating new employment opportunities. He urged young people to develop their skills in line with changing technology and make themselves “future ready.” He said the government is also continuously working to connect youth with modern skills and emerging technologies.
Regarding the problem of traffic congestion in Dehradun, the Chief Minister said that the state government is working seriously towards a permanent solution. Work is underway towards constructing elevated roads over the Bindal and Rispana rivers. Once these projects are completed, they will help improve the city’s traffic management and provide relief from congestion.
The Chief Minister said that the youth of Uttarakhand are the state’s greatest strength. In view of changing technology and new forms of employment, young people will have to continuously update their skills and knowledge. The government’s effort is to provide the youth of the state with better opportunities in education, employment, self-employment and innovation.
