Chamoli: On Tuesday, during a shift change at the under-construction THDC Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydroelectric project’s TBM site in Pipalkoti, Chamoli district, two loco trains carrying workers inside the tunnel collided. At the time of the incident, 109 workers were inside the tunnel.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to the District Magistrate of Chamoli over the phone, gathered complete information about the incident, and instructed him to provide better medical facilities to all the injured and refer them to higher hospitals as needed.
Upon receiving information about the accident, Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar and Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh Panwar immediately reached the district hospital in Gopeshwar, met the injured admitted there, inquired about their well-being, and instructed the doctors to provide proper and better treatment to the injured.
Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar informed that 70 workers were brought to the district hospital in Gopeshwar for treatment, out of which 66 were given first aid and sent home. Four workers have been admitted to the district hospital. 18 workers were given first aid at Pipalkoti Vivekananda Hospital and sent home. 21 workers did not sustain any injuries and went home directly from the accident site.
