Champawat: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated a state-of-the-art MRI machine installed at a cost of nearly ₹6 crore, significantly strengthening healthcare services in Champawat. Established under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with the support of the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the facility will provide advanced diagnostic services to lakhs of people living in the border region.
The Chief Minister said that a healthy Uttarakhand is the foundation of a strong, self-reliant, and developed Uttarakhand. He noted that the new MRI machine will benefit patients not only from Champawat but also from Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital, and nearby border areas by providing advanced diagnostic services locally. This will spare critically ill patients from traveling to Haldwani or other major cities for MRI scans.
He further informed that a 50-bed modern Critical Care Block, being built at an estimated cost of ₹20 crore, is currently under construction in Champawat. In addition, a Diagnostic Wing, modern Operation Theatre, and parking facility worth ₹11.71 crore are also being developed rapidly at the District Hospital.
CM Dhami said that the construction of a Primary Health Centre at Amodi, costing ₹2.18 crore, has been completed. To strengthen nursing education, a 129-bed hostel has also been built at the Integrated Nursing Institute, while work is progressing towards establishing a Paramedical College in the district.
He added that under the Ayushman Bharat and Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Scheme, lakhs of families in the state are receiving free and cashless medical treatment. The government’s objective is to ensure that financial constraints never become a barrier to healthcare.
The event was attended by District Panchayat Chairperson Anand Singh Adhikari, Municipal Chairperson Prema Pandey, Block Pramukh Anchala Bohra, BJP District President Govind Singh Samant, public representatives, and government officials.
