Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Yatra programme held at Gandhi Park on Sunday. On the occasion, he appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to hoist the Tricolour at their homes on Independence Day and always keep the spirit of patriotism alive.
The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to the statues of late Indramani Badoni, a prominent leader of the Uttarakhand statehood movement, and Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Ghantaghar. He then joined thousands of people in the Tricolour Yatra from Gandhi Park to Ghantaghar.
The Chief Minister said that the Tricolour Yatra is a celebration of national pride and that the Tricolour is a symbol of the self-respect of millions of Indians. Freedom fighters and brave soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold the honour and dignity of the Tricolour. He said everyone should remain committed to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
‘Uttarakhand is a Land of Gods as well as a Land of Heroes’
The Chief Minister said that India is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country has made significant progress in its economy, indigenous technology, digital sector and self-reliance. He said the morale of the Indian armed forces has continuously strengthened and the country has demonstrated its strategic capabilities through various operations.
He said Uttarakhand is not only a Devbhoomi (Land of Gods) but also a Veerbhoomi (Land of Heroes). The soil of the state has given countless brave soldiers to the nation. The state government is continuously working for the welfare of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and the families of martyrs.
Government Focuses on Development and Employment
The Chief Minister said that with the resolve of a Developed India by 2047, Uttarakhand is also moving rapidly on the path of development. Facilities related to education, healthcare, roads, electricity, drinking water and air connectivity are being strengthened. A development roadmap has been prepared through sector-specific policies for various areas of the state.
He said the state economy has registered continuous growth. Over the past year, the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has grown by 7.23 percent, while per capita income has increased by 41 percent. More than 20,000 new industries have been established in the state, and the number of startups has crossed 1,750.
The Chief Minister said reverse migration to the state has also increased and Uttarakhand has secured the top position in the country in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
CM Also Speaks on Strict Laws and Government Land
The Chief Minister said that no one would be allowed to tamper with the original character of Devbhoomi. The state has implemented an anti-conversion law, an anti-riot law and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said strict action has also been taken to free government land from encroachment and to combat corruption.
He said that after the implementation of a stringent anti-cheating law, more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs over the past nearly five years. To enable young people not only to seek employment but also to become employment generators, self-employment and entrepreneurship are being promoted through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme, homestays and the tourism policy.
Rajya Sabha MPs Mahendra Bhatt and Naresh Bansal, Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi, Saurabh Bahuguna and Khajan Das, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Vinod Chamoli and Savita Kapoor, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, along with a large number of public representatives, party office-bearers and members of the public, were present at the programme.
