Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan issued strict directives to concerned officials to expedite construction work on the Kedarnath Ropeway project and ensure its timely completion. The progress of the project was reviewed on Friday during a Board of Directors meeting of Uttarakhand Ropeway Development Limited under National Highways Logistics Management Limited at the Secretariat, where the board approved various key proposals.
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to immediately upload forest clearance proposals related to the Kedarnath Ropeway onto the portal. He also directed a parallel re-verification of the identified compensatory afforestation land to prevent administrative delays in obtaining approvals.
Further, he ordered the preparation of a comprehensive master plan chart detailing all project activities for board presentation. In areas where towers are to be constructed on revenue land and forest clearance is not required, CM Bardhan directed that foundation works begin immediately alongside utility relocation.
A detailed calendar with fixed start and completion dates for every tower construction must be drawn up. He also called for proper planning regarding parking, public amenities, and residential facilities around Gaurikund and Sonprayag. To avoid disrupting pilgrim movement during peak yatra seasons, alternative routes and traffic management plans must be drafted in advance. District Magistrates and Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) will attend future board meetings as special invitees to streamline land and forest clearance coordination.
The meeting was attended by Secretaries Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dr. Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, and senior officials from National Highways Logistics Management Limited.
