Dehradun/New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan met the Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, in New Delhi and strongly advocated for the establishment of an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Udham Singh Nagar.
He informed the Union Ministry that the Uttarakhand government has already identified dispute-free land meeting all required norms and has submitted the proposal to the Centre.
The Chief Secretary highlighted that Uttarakhand has a rich heritage of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, while Rishikesh is globally recognised as the Yoga Capital of the World. He said the proposed site enjoys excellent national and international connectivity and, being located near the proposed AIIMS Satellite Centre, has the potential to emerge as a major hub for integrated healthcare.
He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government is fully committed to providing all necessary infrastructure, including land, roads, electricity, drinking water, and other essential facilities for the institute.
Anand Bardhan urged the Ministry of AYUSH to approve Uttarakhand’s proposal, expressing confidence that the establishment of AIIA would significantly boost Ayurveda education, research, healthcare, and medical tourism, positioning Uttarakhand as a leading centre for AYUSH-based healthcare services.
