Kichha (Uttarakhand): Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction AIIMS satellite center in Kichha on Thursday. The 280-bed hospital, being built at a cost of around ₹351 crore, has been directed to expedite its construction work.
During the inspection, the Chief Secretary instructed officials to increase the number of workers and resources to ensure that the construction is completed by July 2026 under all circumstances, so that OPD services can begin from August.
According to officials, about 85% of the project has already been completed. CPWD engineer Utpal Tripathi stated that the hospital building will be completed by July 30, while the residential buildings are expected to be finished by May. Construction of internal roads within the campus will also be completed by May, and plantation work will be carried out in June.
This state-of-the-art medical facility will offer 250 beds, 10 operation theatres, and 30 ICU beds, along with services in cardiology, nephrology, urology, neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, general medicine, pediatrics, and trauma care. Additionally, a guest house (sarai) and a shopping complex are also being built for the convenience of patients and their attendants.
Director of AIIMS Rishikesh, Prof. Meenu Singh, stated that if construction is completed on time, OPD services will begin from August.
During the inspection, the Chief Secretary and officials also carried out plantation in the परिसर. Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, and several senior officials were also present on the occasion.
