Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the state’s major infrastructure projects and directed all departments to complete large-scale construction works within their prescribed timelines. He ordered the setting of monthly and quarterly targets and regular monitoring of project progress.
The Chief Secretary reviewed major projects being implemented by the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam, Power Transmission Corporation, and UPCL under the Energy Department. He directed officials to establish financial and physical targets for projects aimed at reducing power-system losses and ensure their timely completion. He also instructed officials to complete the electrification of border villages within the stipulated timeframe.
Bardhan directed officials to complete the construction of the Rudrapur and Pithoragarh Medical Colleges at the earliest and begin academic classes. He also called for speeding up construction of the Haridwar Medical College.
Displeasure Over Delay in Sharda Ghat Project
The Chief Secretary expressed dissatisfaction over delays in the Sharda Ghat project and directed officials to strengthen the implementing agency. In view of the upcoming Kumbh 2027, he also instructed officials to accelerate work on the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor.
He directed authorities to begin construction in accordance with the amount of work that can realistically be completed by December 2026.
The Chief Secretary also instructed the Women and Child Welfare Department to establish an effective system for operating the under-construction working women’s hostels.
Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Special Principal Secretary Amit Kumar Sinha, and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
