Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the state’s Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) and directed all departments to accelerate implementation. He emphasized that infrastructure development should remain a priority and that all projects must be completed within the stipulated timelines.
During the review meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed departments to submit closure reports for completed projects to the respective funding agencies, the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), the Ministry of Finance, and other concerned departments of the Government of India. He also directed officials to closely monitor slow-moving projects and speed up execution by deploying additional manpower and machinery.
Bardhan asked the Energy Department to prepare a proposal for underground power line projects in Mussoorie and Nainital. He also directed the establishment of a dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) to ensure the effective implementation and regular monitoring of the Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Project.
Highlighting the need to strengthen technical education, the Chief Secretary instructed departments to prepare EAP-funded proposals for developing infrastructure in engineering colleges, polytechnics, and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). He also called for greater focus on projects related to river rejuvenation, animal husbandry, dairy development, fisheries, and solid waste management.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Nitesh Kumar Jha, Dilip Jawalkar, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Ranjit Singh Chauhan, Vinod Kumar Suman, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Himanshu Khurana, and other senior officials.
