Chief Secretary Takes Strict View of Slow TB Campaign Progress, Directs Adverse Entries for CMOs with Less Than 60% Screening

Dehradun: Taking a serious view of the slow progress of the TB-Free India Campaign in Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan issued strict instructions during a review meeting held via video conference with district magistrates on Thursday.

He directed that Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in districts where general patient screening remains below 60 percent should receive adverse entries in their service records.

The Chief Secretary instructed officials to achieve 100 percent patient screening within the next week and prioritize highly sensitive and high-risk villages under the campaign. He also directed the Director General of Health Services to conduct daily monitoring and review of the campaign, with special attention on districts showing low screening rates.

Focus on Increasing TB Screening

He emphasized the need for all CMOs to enhance TB screening and establish clear targets to make the campaign more effective. According to him, rapid action at the grassroots level is essential for the campaign’s success.

Instructions to Improve Maternal Health Services

The meeting also reviewed maternal health services. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of registering pregnant women during the first trimester to facilitate timely identification and management of high-risk pregnancies.

He instructed districts to increase ANC (Antenatal Care) coverage, ensure proper arrangements at birth waiting homes, and utilize One Stop Centers operated by the Women and Child Development Department whenever necessary.

Relocation of High-Risk Pregnant Women Before Monsoon

The Chief Secretary directed that high-risk pregnant women living in remote areas be shifted to birth waiting homes before the onset of the monsoon season. He also called for stronger systems to identify and manage high-risk pregnancies and post-delivery complications to reduce preventable maternal deaths.
