Haldwani: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing a Senior Citizens Felicitation Program in Haldwani, made a major announcement that an old age home will be built in Kotabagh for destitute elderly people. He also claimed that the BJP will form ‘double engine’ governments in West Bengal and Assam.
At the event held in the Medical College auditorium, CM Dhami honored 15 senior citizens and खिलाड़ियों (sportspersons) for their outstanding contributions in various fields. Upon arriving on stage, he touched the feet of elderly attendees to seek their blessings, creating an emotional atmosphere.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that senior citizens play a crucial role in building society and their experience guides the younger generation. He assured that the government is continuously working for the dignity, safety, and welfare of the elderly.
He announced that old age homes will be established in a phased manner in districts where such facilities are not available. Additionally, a plan is being prepared to train 50 master trainers to improve care and services for senior citizens.
Making a political statement, the Chief Minister said that people are trusting ‘double engine’ governments for development. He claimed that the BJP will form governments in both West Bengal and Assam.
Cabinet Minister Khajan Das and several public representatives and officials were present at the event. CM Dhami also described human-wildlife conflict as a serious issue and spoke about fixing accountability. He invited devotees to visit Devbhoomi for the Char Dham Yatra.
