Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami purchased local products from stalls set up by self-help groups under the Sashakt Bahna Utsav at the Secretariat on Tuesday. During the event, he appealed to the people of the state to give priority to local products during the upcoming festivals and promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” campaign.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the local products prepared by women associated with self-help groups represent Uttarakhand’s culture, traditions, and skills. Purchasing these products will strengthen women’s livelihoods and help them become economically self-reliant.
He said that festivals provide an excellent opportunity to promote local products. People of the state should give preference to locally made products when purchasing gifts and daily-use items. Every locally produced item purchased contributes to increasing the income of a family and strengthening a woman’s self-employment.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to provide better markets for products made by women’s self-help groups, local artisans, and entrepreneurs. He appealed to people not only to purchase local products but also to encourage others to do the same.
He said that promoting local products will strengthen the vision of a self-reliant Uttarakhand and a self-reliant India.
