Dehradun. Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Election Commission, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He said that constitutional institutions are the foundation of democracy, and questions or allegations against them should be raised only on the basis of facts.
The Chief Minister said that whenever the public rejects Congress in elections, Rahul Gandhi shifts the blame for his defeat onto constitutional institutions. He alleged that making Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) or constitutional bodies responsible for their defeat has become a habit of the Congress party.
Dhami said that attacking the Election Commission is akin to questioning the democratic mandate of the citizens of the country. Targeting Rahul Gandhi, he remarked that despite holding a crucial position like the Leader of the Opposition, he lacks the expected seriousness. Referring to the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ (Echo of Students) event held in Indore, he said that Congress leaders these days are engaging in less politics and more comedy.
Counterattack on Statements Regarding Doval and General Bipin Rawat
The Chief Minister also mentioned the allegations leveled by Rahul Gandhi against National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and comments made by Congress leaders regarding the late CDS General Bipin Rawat. He said that questions are repeatedly raised over the language used by Congress leaders concerning individuals who serve the nation.
Mention of Anti-Copying Law and Government Jobs
Dhami stated that Rahul Gandhi should get his facts straight before speaking about Uttarakhand. He highlighted that action has been taken against more than 100 accused under the Anti-Copying Law, and over 35,000 youth in the state have been provided government jobs. The Chief Minister said it is inappropriate to raise questions about the government while ignoring these facts.
