CM Dhami Attends Bhagwat Katha, Emphasizes Protection of Sanatan Culture

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha event held at Rangers Ground in Dehradun and took blessings from saints.

During the event, renowned storyteller Devkinandan Thakur urged a complete ban on liquor in the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, especially in Gangotri and Yamunotri. Responding to this, the Chief Minister said that such restrictions are already in place and will be enforced more strictly in the future.

The religious event, organized by the Vishva Shanti Seva Charitable Trust, has been running from March 27 to April 2. The Chief Minister participated in the event on April 1.

In his address, he said that attending spiritual events like the Bhagwat Katha is a matter of great fortune. He emphasized that saints provide spiritual direction to society and such events promote inner peace and positive energy.

He praised Devkinandan Thakur for his dedication to spirituality and said that the state government is committed to strengthening social harmony, cultural pride, and spiritual awareness.

During the discourse, Thakur stated that a complete ban on liquor in sacred sites like Gangotri and Yamunotri would enhance the sanctity of pilgrimage. He also urged people to educate their children about Sanatan culture.

The Chief Minister reiterated that liquor consumption is not allowed at sacred sites such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. He assured that strict action will be taken against any violations to maintain the sanctity of these places.

Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, who was also present, emphasized the importance of preserving the religious traditions and faith of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enforcing existing bans on meat and alcohol in Char Dham areas.
