Khatima: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Tharu Tribal Dialogue Programme in Khatima on Saturday, where he interacted with representatives of the Tharu community. During the event, he honoured BSF Everest summiteer Mohan Singh Rana and ITBP Everest summiteer Teela Sen, while also listening to the community’s concerns and suggestions.
The Chief Minister said the state government is continuously working for the development of tribal communities in the areas of education, healthcare, employment, and infrastructure. He described the dialogue as a platform to strengthen trust and partnership between the government and the Tharu community. He added that he shares a long-standing bond with the Tharu community and assured that every suggestion would be taken seriously to make government schemes more effective.
CM Dhami said the state has implemented a strict anti-conversion law and is running a comprehensive campaign against drug abuse. He stressed that addiction harms both society and families, making public awareness essential.
He said tribal families are being connected to housing, education, and employment through schemes such as the PM Janman Housing Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Atal Awas Yojana, and various Tribal Welfare Department programmes. He added that a girls’ hostel is being built in Khatima, a school and hostel in Bazpur, and a 100-bed boys’ hostel in Gadarpur. Renovation and modernization work is also underway at the Tharu Government Inter College, including the playground, auditorium, and school buildings.
The Chief Minister said tribal women are being empowered through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Van Dhan Kendras, while revolving funds and investment support are being provided to promote small enterprises. He reiterated that the government’s priority is to integrate every Tharu family into the mainstream of development, promote youth self-reliance, and provide better education and empowerment opportunities for girls.
Representatives of the Tharu community thanked the Chief Minister for the government’s efforts towards the community’s development and the preservation of its cultural heritage. The event was attended by public representatives, administrative officials, and a large number of members of the Tharu community.
