CM Dhami Attends Uttarakhand Judges Association Annual Conference, Announces ₹5 Crore Welfare Fund

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Uttarakhand Judges Association Annual Conference, “Judicium 2.0: Inclusion, Access and Strengthening,” held at UPES Bidholi. He stated that making the justice system more inclusive, accessible, transparent, and effective reflects the true spirit of good governance.

He emphasized that ensuring speedy and impartial justice for every citizen, especially those at the grassroots level, remains a top priority of the state government.

The Chief Minister said the conference theme focuses on inclusion, easy access to justice, and strengthening judicial institutions—key aspects directly linked to the vision of a developed India. He stressed that every section of society should receive equal opportunities and respect within the justice system, and that geographical or economic challenges should not become barriers to justice.

He noted that in a mountainous state like Uttarakhand, providing easy access to justice in remote regions is especially important. The effectiveness of justice lies in its fairness and timeliness, and unnecessary delays can erode public trust.

Modernizing the Judicial System

CM Dhami described the judiciary as a strong pillar of democracy that protects citizens’ rights and strengthens public confidence and security. He highlighted reforms introduced under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam
  • E-Courts
  • National Judicial Data Grid
  • Digital Case Management
  • Video Conferencing Facilities

He said the Uttarakhand government is also working continuously to strengthen judicial infrastructure through digital courts, e-filing, and virtual hearings. Additionally, long-pending disputes are being resolved through Revenue Lok Adalats.

Welfare Fund Announcement

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to law and order and highlighted initiatives such as:

  • Anti-copying law
  • Anti-conversion law
  • Anti-riot legislation
  • Action against corruption and illegal encroachments

He also praised the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), calling it a historic step toward women’s empowerment and equal justice for all citizens.

On the occasion, CM Dhami announced ₹5 crore for the Uttarakhand Judges Association Welfare Fund and also released the association’s souvenir publication.
