Dehradun: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament on February 1. A day after the budget speech, while discussions on the budget continue in Parliament, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a press conference in the state today and termed the budget as a budget for a developed India.
Speaking on Budget 2026, the Chief Minister said that this budget strengthens three main pillars. It is a budget that aims to make the country the world’s third-largest economic power, addresses global warming, and promotes both the economy and ecology.
This budget focuses on skill development. This budget is geared towards moving from local to global. The budget has been prepared keeping eco-tourism in mind.
This budget, prepared at Kartavya Bhavan, has three guiding principles:
- Productivity and global competitiveness.
- In line with India’s prosperity.
- Inclusive growth for all.
The focus is on trade in addition to road logistics. The CM said that this budget is important for balanced and positive development in Uttarakhand. The 16th Finance Commission has been announced for Uttarakhand. This will lead to the approval of schemes worth crores of rupees for the state. The CM also informed that Uttarakhand has received assistance in the Jal Jeevan Mission in the general budget. Its deadline has been extended, and a provision of Rs 67,670 crore has been made.
