Dehradun: Amid concerns over global gas and fuel supply disruptions due to the ongoing conflict between Iran–Israel conflict, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection at a restaurant in Garhikant, Dehradun, on Tuesday.
He reviewed the gas supply situation and interacted with restaurant operators to understand the ground reality.
Due to international conditions, precautionary measures are being taken regarding LPG supply. At present, sufficient gas is being provided to domestic consumers across Uttarakhand and the rest of India. However, commercial gas connections are receiving limited supply to ensure that household consumers do not face shortages.
This limited commercial supply has started impacting hotels and food establishments. Many restaurant operators have begun adopting alternative cooking arrangements to avoid disruption in their operations.
During the inspection, the restaurant owner informed the Chief Minister that although there has been a slight reduction in supply, gas is still being received regularly. He also mentioned increased use of tandoors to reduce gas consumption.
The Chief Minister appreciated this initiative and instructed the administration to promote the use of alternative energy sources. He said that there is currently no major gas crisis in the state, but if required, citizens will need to collectively face the challenge.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is making continuous efforts to ensure smooth gas supply. He appealed to hotel and restaurant operators, as well as the general public, to use alternatives like induction cooktops and other energy sources if needed.
He also remarked that just as the country showed unity and patience during the COVID period, similar collective efforts can overcome any challenge.
