Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 101 selected candidates for the Animal Husbandry Department and the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department at a programme held on Thursday at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s Camp Office. The appointees include 88 Livestock Extension Officers and 13 Sugarcane Supervisors. Congratulating all the newly appointed personnel, the Chief Minister urged them to discharge their responsibilities with a spirit of public service.
The Chief Minister said the appointment letters were the result of the youth’s hard work, discipline and determination. He said the state government has implemented a strict anti-cheating law to ensure transparency in recruitment processes. He added that government jobs are now being awarded not on the basis of recommendations or personal connections, but on the basis of merit, hard work and talent. Over the past five years, more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs, he said.
The Chief Minister said the Animal Husbandry and Sugarcane departments are directly connected with the rural economy of the state. Animal husbandry is an important source of livelihood for thousands of families in the hilly regions and plays a significant role in the economic empowerment of women. The government is promoting animal husbandry and the dairy sector through various schemes, he said.
He said that in the interest of sugarcane farmers, the sugarcane survey system has been made online and transparent. Sugarcane clinics and advisory centres have also been established to provide farmers with information on improved varieties and scientific farming practices. Sugarcane farmers in Uttarakhand are being paid ₹5 more per quintal for their produce compared with farmers in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
The Chief Minister told the newly appointed personnel that it was their responsibility to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. He urged them to understand the problems of farmers and livestock owners with sensitivity and work towards resolving them, following the guiding principles of “Simplification, Solution, Disposal and Satisfaction.”
Cabinet Ministers Saurabh Bahuguna, Ganesh Joshi and Khajan Das, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Savita Kapoor and Durgeshwar Lal, Secretary S.N. Pandey, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
