CM Dhami Distributes Appointment Letters to 63 Sanitation Inspectors

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 63 sanitation inspectors selected under the Urban Development Department at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.

On the occasion, he also virtually laid the foundation stone for a new Directorate of Urban Development building to be constructed at a cost of about ₹62 crore and flagged off waste disposal vehicles.

Dhami said that around 30,000 youths have been provided government jobs in the state over the last four years.

He emphasized that urban local bodies play a crucial role in the development of cities. At the time of the formation of the state, Uttarakhand had 63 urban local bodies, whereas today there are 108, including:

  • 11 Municipal Corporations
  • 46 Municipal Councils
  • 51 Nagar Panchayats

The Chief Minister said sanitation inspectors form the foundation of urban cleanliness systems, and their appointments will further strengthen municipal governance.

With **Char Dham Yatra beginning soon and the **Kumbh Mela 2027 approaching, he stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in cities and pilgrimage sites.

He added that several major schemes are being implemented to improve urban infrastructure, including:

  • Swachh Bharat Mission
  • Smart Cities Mission
  • Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Yojana
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
  • AMRUT Mission

He also highlighted initiatives such as urban health centers, shelters for stray cattle, mechanized transfer stations, electric buses and EV charging stations in cities.
