Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave the message of the victory of good over evil by burning the effigy of Ravana at the Dussehra fair organized at Hindu National College on Tuesday. Attending the event organized by the Laxman Chowk Welfare Society, the Chief Minister extended Vijayadashami greetings to the people of the state. Cabinet Minister Khajan Das was also present during the occasion.
The Chief Minister remarked that Dussehra is an important festival in Indian culture that conveys the message of establishing truth, righteousness, and justice. The burning of Ravana’s effigy inspires us to renounce arrogance, anger, greed, and negative tendencies within ourselves and adopt virtuous conduct. This festival teaches that no matter how powerful unrighteousness and injustice may seem, victory ultimately belongs to truth.
Referencing the life and ideals of Lord Ram, he said that His life inspires decorum, sacrifice, compassion, and devotion to duty. Lord Ram taught through His conduct that one should remain steadfast on the path of truth and righteousness even in difficult circumstances. His ideals teach us to honestly fulfill our duties toward family, society, and the nation.
Dhami noted that events like Dussehra fairs keep cultural heritage alive while connecting the new generation with Indian traditions and mythological episodes. Such programs also play a vital role in enhancing social cohesion and encouraging public participation.
Appreciating the efforts of the Laxman Chowk Welfare Society, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes to everyone associated with the organization. He stated that to make the message of festivals meaningful, it is necessary to adopt the values of Indian culture in our daily behavior. A large number of local citizens and organizers were present at the event.
