Dehradun: Taking a significant step toward promoting clean and eco-friendly transportation, the Uttarakhand government distributed capital grants and incentive subsidy cheques to six vehicle owners under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transition Policy-2024. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over the subsidy cheques at a programme held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan and flagged off 11 clean-fuel vehicles. The Transport Department has also completed the subsidy approval process for five additional beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister said the initiative is not merely financial assistance but a major step toward creating a cleaner, modern, and environmentally sustainable transport system in the state. He added that the move would help reduce pollution caused by diesel-powered vehicles while encouraging the adoption of public transport operating on clean fuels.
Dhami said that the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transition Policy-2024 aims to develop modern public transportation in urban areas, reduce pollution, and promote the use of CNG and other clean-fuel vehicles. The government is expanding electric bus services in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Haldwani, while EV charging stations are being established across the state.
He further stated that the government remains committed to promoting green development. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the state has nearly achieved its target for rooftop solar installations. Urging citizens to participate in the campaign for clean transportation and environmental conservation, he said that lasting change can only be achieved through public participation.
