Tehri: The Chief Minister Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan programme on the theme “My Dream Uttarakhand” was organised at the auditorium of the Chauras Campus of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Kirtinagar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted directly with students to understand their ideas, suggestions and vision for a developed Uttarakhand. He said the thoughts, energy and determination of young people would play a crucial role in shaping the state’s development.
Responding to students’ queries, the Chief Minister said that empowering the future generation of the state and making them self-reliant and aware was a priority of the government. He said that under the “My Dream Uttarakhand” campaign, 267,744 students from across the state had submitted their essays and ideas. Appreciating their efforts, he said their views reflected their concern for Uttarakhand’s development and its bright future.
During the programme, Seema Semwal, a Class 11 student from Rudraprayag, shared her views on migration. The Chief Minister said that moving outside the state for education and employment was not always negative. Studying and gaining experience elsewhere could benefit young people, but women in the hill regions still face several difficult circumstances. Shreya Semwal from Devprayag shared her thoughts on the theme “Let the mountains remain, let our people remain, let my dreams remain.”
Student Tamanna raised the issue of migration and low income from agriculture and presented the vision of “My Mountains, My Employment.” Appreciating her idea, the Chief Minister said circumstances could be challenging, but determination should remain strong. He urged young people to aim not merely to seek jobs but to become job creators.
Student Srishti raised questions regarding public trust in government schools and hospitals. The Chief Minister said young people would have to remain vigilant to help improve these systems. Citing the examples of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that even people from ordinary families could achieve great goals.
Anushka from Rudraprayag offered suggestions on ways to curb migration. The Chief Minister said that despite the state’s difficult geographical conditions, basic facilities such as electricity and water were being provided in villages across the state. He said more than 500 smart classrooms were currently operational and that reverse migration was also taking place.
Ishika Negi and Gaurav Bisht shared suggestions related to tourism, environmental conservation and the Char Dham Yatra. Student Mukesh Kushwaha suggested extending healthcare facilities such as helicopter ambulances to villages and introducing skill-development training at the school level. The Chief Minister described the suggestion as useful and said the government was working to provide young people with opportunities to advance according to their talents and capabilities.
The Chief Minister said that the India of 2047 would be built through the dreams, determination and hard work of its youth. A developed India would be possible only when every village, district and state moved forward on the path of development. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and work continuously towards turning their dreams into goals.
He said initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Youth Scheme were being undertaken to promote young people’s talent in technology and innovation. At the same time, the government had enacted stringent laws against cheating mafias who jeopardise the future of young people appearing for competitive examinations.
During the programme, Aditi Gautam presented the Chief Minister with a painting created by her. District Education Officer Anshul Bisht was honoured for better participation. District Magistrate of Rudraprayag Vishal Mishra was also honoured for achieving 100 per cent student participation in essay writing in the district.
District Magistrate of Tehri Nitika Khandelwal, Senior Superintendent of Police Shweta Choubey, Chief Development Officer Varuna Agarwal, along with students and teachers from various schools, were present at the programme.
