Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth ₹178 million (₹17.80 crore) in Purukul, Mussoorie Assembly constituency. During the event, he also inaugurated a community hall built in memory of former District Panchayat Vice-Chairman, the late Deepak Pundir.
The Chief Minister said these projects would give fresh momentum to the development of the Mussoorie Assembly constituency. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is moving toward a golden era of development. Alongside strengthening education, healthcare, roads, drinking water supply, and other basic infrastructure, the state is also promoting tourism, sports, and adventure activities.
He noted that Mussoorie has established itself as one of India’s leading tourism and wedding destinations. The state government is accelerating several key initiatives for the town’s overall development, including the construction of the Sainya Dham memorial, road widening up to the lower terminal of the Mussoorie Ropeway, drinking water projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and works related to roads and flood protection.
The Chief Minister said the state government is implementing every promise without pause or delay. He alleged that some people are attempting to mislead the public through falsehoods and rumours, while the government remains focused on development and good governance.
He said the state has taken major governance initiatives by implementing an anti-conversion law, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), legislation to recover damages from those responsible for destruction of public and private property during riots, and an anti-cheating law for recruitment examinations. According to the Chief Minister, more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs through a transparent recruitment process since the anti-cheating law came into effect.
He also highlighted initiatives such as the Startup Policy, One District One Product, House of Himalayas, the Homestay Scheme, Wed in Uttarakhand, and the Solar Self-Employment Scheme, saying they are creating new employment opportunities for youth. He claimed the state’s unemployment rate has declined by a record 4.4 percent and that Uttarakhand has ranked first in the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index of NITI Aayog.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, development works related to roads, drinking water, community buildings, and other infrastructure are progressing rapidly in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency. Several public representatives and local residents, including Jyoti Kotiya, Shamsher Singh Bisht, and MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, were also present.
