Champawat: A Blood Component Separation Unit established at a cost of around ₹50 lakh at District Hospital Champawat was inaugurated on Thursday. Addressing the programme virtually, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government is continuously working to turn its resolve of making Champawat a model district into reality. Strengthening healthcare facilities is among the government’s highest priorities.
The Chief Minister said Champawat is not merely his Assembly constituency but his karmabhoomi (place of work and service). The establishment of the Blood Component Separation Unit will further strengthen healthcare services in the district. In emergency situations, the facility will enable patients to receive essential life-saving blood components in a timely manner. This is the first time that such a facility has been introduced in Champawat. Earlier, among district hospitals in the Kumaon division, the facility was available in Rudrapur and Pithoragarh.
He said a state-of-the-art 50-bed Critical Care Block has been constructed at District Hospital Champawat at a cost of around ₹20 crore. Facilities such as CT scan, MRI and dialysis units have also been established. In addition, construction work is underway at a cost of around ₹11.71 crore for parking on the lower level and diagnostic centres and operation theatres on the first and second floors of the hospital.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is setting new benchmarks in development. Efforts are being made in a planned manner to make Champawat a model district in the fields of healthcare, education, tourism and infrastructure. Along with road construction and widening, modern parking facilities are being developed to address traffic congestion. Construction of a modern multi-storey parking facility and shopping complex at the Champawat Roadways Station, at a cost of more than ₹62 crore, will begin soon.
He said parking facilities have also been developed at Maa Purnagiri Dham, Reetha Sahib and the Tourist Rest House. Keeping future requirements in mind, a modern city drainage system is being developed in the district at a cost of more than ₹66 crore. Work on underground electricity lines is also progressing rapidly. At the same time, the district’s drinking-water system is being strengthened at a cost of more than ₹240 crore.
The Chief Minister said important projects such as a science centre, women’s sports college and a modern ISBT will give new direction to Champawat’s development. The government is committed to making Champawat an ideal model of Uttarakhand in the fields of development, healthcare, education, tourism and infrastructure. Special attention is being given to connecting every village in the district with the mainstream of development and increasing employment opportunities for young people.
Health Minister Subodh Uniyal said the state government is continuously working to make healthcare services modern, accessible and people-centric. With the launch of the Blood Component Separation Unit at Champawat District Hospital, essential blood components will be available locally to patients in critical and emergency situations. This will enable timely treatment and reduce dependence on hospitals in other districts.
Secretary Health Vinay Shankar Pandey, office-bearer Subhash Bagouli, MLA representative Prakash Chandra Tiwari, BJP leader Satish Pandey, along with District Panchayat President Anand Singh Adhikari, BJP District President Govind Samant, Nagar Palika President Prema Pandey, Lohaghat Nagar Palika President Govind Verma and several other public representatives and officials participated in the programme virtually.
