Banbasa: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with prominent citizens in Banbasa on Monday following the youth dialogue programme. He said that enlightened citizens are the mirror of society and that their views and suggestions play an important role in guiding society in the right direction. He said the campaign to take Uttarakhand to new heights of development would continue through public participation and collective efforts.
The Chief Minister said continuous efforts were being made to realise the vision of an “Ideal Uttarakhand” alongside “Ideal Champawat.” He said the completion of projects such as the ISBT and Sharda Corridor in Tanakpur would give fresh impetus to tourism, employment and economic activity.
He said work was underway on facilities such as permanent lighting, a ropeway and a helipad to make Maa Purnagiri Dham more accessible to devotees throughout the year. In view of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Tanakpur is also being developed as an important centre for tourism and pilgrimage.
The Chief Minister said several development projects in the district, including parking facilities, the APJ Abdul Kalam Institute and a state-of-the-art science centre, were being expedited. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand was continuously progressing in the areas of sustainable development, law and order, investment and tourism. He stated that the state’s Gross Domestic Product had doubled over the past five years.
During the programme, prominent citizens and ex-servicemen expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the development work being undertaken in Champawat. When the Chief Minister noticed Kamla Devi, Banbasa’s first woman village head and a person with a disability, he personally went up to her, presented her with a bouquet and felicitated her. People attending the programme appreciated the Chief Minister’s warm and courteous gesture.
