Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with students from across Uttarakhand during the ‘Chief Minister Youth Student Manthan’ programme organised at the Chief Minister’s residence. On the occasion, he launched the ‘Chief Minister Youth Student Manthan Portal’. An essay competition on the theme “My Dream Uttarakhand: My Vision for a Developed State” was also launched.
The Chief Minister said that 140 students from across the state who perform well in the competition would be felicitated. The state government will bear the cost of coaching and necessary fees for these students to prepare for competitive examinations such as NEET, JEE, CLAT and SAT.
More than three lakh students of Classes 11 and 12 from around 2,828 government and private schools across the state participated virtually in the programme. During the interaction, students offered suggestions such as promoting sports, organising sports classes four days a week, strengthening higher education, promoting tourism, and giving priority to environmental conservation alongside development.
The Chief Minister took the students’ suggestions seriously and noted them down. He directed officials to prepare an action plan based on these suggestions. He said useful suggestions from students would also be incorporated into government policies.
The Chief Minister said that students are the present and future of the country. He told them that success is not only about securing marks in examinations; understanding subjects, good values and discipline are also essential. Studies should not be considered a burden but rather a means of shaping one’s future.
He advised students to set goals in life and make continuous efforts to achieve them. The Chief Minister said success does not lie only in moving forward oneself but also in helping others move forward. Young people should use their talent and energy in a positive direction and contribute to the development of society and the state.
Advice on Balanced Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Chief Minister also advised students to exercise caution while using artificial intelligence. He said that before turning to AI for a subject, students should first use their own intelligence, judgment and ability to think. After learning through the guidance and experience of teachers, they may seek assistance from artificial intelligence when necessary. He said technology should be a partner, not a substitute for the ability to think and learn.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of sports alongside academics. He said that interest in sports among young people has increased following the successful hosting of the National Games in Uttarakhand. The state government is also running the Chief Minister Emerging Player Upgradation Scheme to encourage athletes.
The Chief Minister said it is important to understand the thoughts and aspirations of the new generation. He assured students that the channels of communication would always remain open and that the government was ready to listen to their problems, suggestions and ideas. He said continuous dialogue is essential for developing better understanding and a better future.
