CM Dhami Showcases Traditional Pahadi Lifestyle in Tanakpur, Cooks Mandua Roti and Grinds Chutney on a Stone Grinder

Tanakpur: During his two-day visit to Champawat on Sunday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited a rural family’s home, where he experienced the traditional lifestyle of the Himalayan region firsthand. The Chief Minister prepared mandua (finger millet) roti on a traditional wood-fired stove and ground a local chutney using a sil-batta (stone grinder). He also sat with the family and enjoyed a meal featuring traditional local cuisine.

The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand’s traditional food culture and rural way of life are among the state’s most valuable treasures. Stressing the need to promote indigenous grains, millets (Shree Anna), and other local produce, he said that preserving and popularizing these products would strengthen the rural economy and enhance farmers’ incomes.

CM Dhami also interacted with villagers, listened to their concerns, and directed officials to take prompt action on issues requiring government intervention. He said the state government is continuously working towards the holistic development of villages, promoting self-employment, and giving local products national recognition.

The Chief Minister’s simple and traditional gesture became a major talking point among local residents. Large numbers of people gathered to meet him and take photographs. Political observers also viewed the visit as an example of his efforts to connect with ordinary citizens while promoting Uttarakhand’s rich folk culture and traditions.
