Dehradun: Preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in 2027 are in full swing in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with relevant departmental officials at the Secretariat on Monday to ensure timely completion of the Kumbh Mela.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami directed officials to complete all preparations related to the Kumbh Mela by October 31st. Furthermore, considering the requirements of the Kumbh Mela, all construction work should be completed within the stipulated time. Furthermore, special attention should be paid to the quality of construction work.
No work or file related to the Kumbh should remain pending: The Chief Minister said that no work or file related to the Kumbh should remain pending at the government level. Responsibility for any pending work will be fixed for the concerned officials. The Chief Minister also stated that the state government’s priority is to ensure a grand, divine, and successful Kumbh Mela.
The Chief Minister directed the PWD Secretary to appoint technical officers for the Kumbh Mela within the next 24 hours. He also directed that all bridges built in the Kumbh area be audited. He also directed that all ghats in the Kumbh area be beautified and renovated as needed.
Bathing facilities should be provided at all ghats: The Chief Minister stated that bathing facilities should be provided at Har Ki Pauri as well as all other ghats for devotees. A detailed action plan should be prepared for the cleanliness of the Mela area. Toilets and drinking water should be provided at all major locations. Adequate security forces and water police should be deployed. Drones, CCTV, and other modern equipment should also be used for security purposes.
Land allocation to Akharas should be timely: He stated that a detailed action plan should be prepared for law and order, parking, and crowd management during the fair. Land allocation to various Akharas in the Kumbh Mela area should be timely. The Mela Officer should monitor this. Additionally, coordination should be established with all Akharas, Mathas, Sant Samaj, institutions, committees, and local residents. Preparations for the fair should be made in accordance with their suggestions.
A Campaign Against Encroachment: The Chief Minister stated that to ensure that people do not face difficulties in commuting during the Kumbh, a comprehensive campaign against encroachment should be launched in the Kumbh area. Permissions should be obtained promptly for forest-related matters.
The Chief Minister directed officials to coordinate with other states as well. He stated that all development work related to the fair should be visible both on paper and on the ground. The Chief Minister directed that preparations for housing and the tent city be completed on time and that temporary hospitals, ambulances, and mobile medical teams be arranged in the fair area.
The Chief Minister stated that the Kumbh Mela is a significant religious event for our culture, faith, and millions of devotees. It is our duty to ensure that this event is a success, and that all devotees who visit the state take home a positive experience.
Following the meeting, Chief Minister Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey stated that meetings regarding preparations for the Kumbh Mela had begun six to seven months in advance. In this context, a meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. During the meeting, the Mela Officer presented the ongoing work. During the meeting, CM Dhami instructed officials to prioritize quality in all ongoing Kumbh Mela works.
In addition, three institutions have been designated for third-party inspections, including IIT Roorkee. The CM has also ordered a security audit of the bridges within the Mela area, ensuring that any work required on the bridges is completed in a timely manner. He also directed that all Kumbh Mela-related work be completed before October 31st.
