Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has taken a major step toward making governance more transparent, digital, and efficient by implementing the Devbhoomi Family Act. Under this new system, every family in the state will be assigned a unique Family ID, which will serve as its digital identity.
The government aims to create a unified and verified database of all families in the state to ensure that government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries without obstacles and to prevent fraudulent claims.
Complete Family Information Under One ID
The Devbhoomi Family ID system will maintain details of all family members on a single platform. Information such as names, age, Aadhaar-linked details, education, employment status, and socio-economic background will be recorded.
This integrated database will facilitate easier information sharing among government departments and improve administrative efficiency.
Boost to Women’s Empowerment
One of the most notable features of the Act is that the senior-most woman in the family who is 18 years of age or older will be recognized as the head of the family.
The government considers this an important step toward women’s empowerment, providing formal recognition to women’s roles within households.
Easier Access to Government Schemes
The Devbhoomi Family ID will be linked to various government welfare schemes. As a result, citizens will no longer need to submit the same documents repeatedly for different schemes.
With a single unique ID, eligible families will be able to access multiple government services and benefits more conveniently.
Digital Database for Rural and Urban Areas
The government is developing a comprehensive digital database covering both rural and urban households across Uttarakhand. This is expected to improve beneficiary identification, increase transparency in scheme implementation, and streamline administrative processes.
Modelled on Haryana’s Family ID System
The Devbhoomi Family Act has been designed on the lines of Haryana’s Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme, under which citizens can access multiple government services through a single unique identification system.
A Major Step Toward Digital Uttarakhand
The government believes that the Devbhoomi Family Act will significantly strengthen digital governance in the state. It is expected to improve the implementation of welfare schemes, enhance administrative transparency, and provide faster and simpler public services to citizens.
