New Tehri: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed ongoing development projects in Tehri Garhwal and instructed officials to ensure that all infrastructure and construction works are completed on time and with quality standards.
He emphasized priority for disaster-affected road repairs, drinking water schemes, and essential facilities in tourism areas. Regular monitoring of roads, water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems was also stressed.
Review of Kumbh Mela Road and Ram Jhula Projects
Officials informed the meeting that the tender process for the reconstruction and improvement of the Narendra Nagar–Kinwani–Neergarh road section, costing over ₹10 crore, has been completed. The Chief Secretary directed speedy execution of the work. He also reviewed strengthening and safety measures for the Ram Jhula bridge.
Focus on Drinking Water and Sewer Projects
The progress of various drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission was reviewed. Officials reported that 55 percent of the Narendra Nagar sewer line project has been completed. Increasing water demand in tourist areas and limited maintenance budgets were identified as major challenges.
Chandra Bhaga River and Drainage System
The Chief Secretary reviewed a ₹40 crore stormwater drainage project in Muni Ki Reti and directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for flood protection works along the Chandra Bhaga River.
Boosting Rural Livelihoods
The meeting also discussed livelihood projects across different blocks, including printing units, dairy farming, agricultural input centers, mushroom cultivation, fisheries, plum orchards, goat farming, poultry units, herbal gardens, and dragon fruit cultivation.
Libraries and Pine Needle Collection Campaign
Officials shared updates on the “My Block, My Library” initiative. The Forest Department reported the collection of 131 quintals of pine needles under the Gramotthan project.
Tourism Development Around Tehri Lake
Before the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed tourism development proposals under the ADB project around the Tehri Lake region, including plans for Dobra-Chanthi, Tiwad Village, Koti Colony, New Tehri, Madan Negi, and Lake Cluster areas.
