DGP holds high-level meeting for Char Dham Yatra, 7,000 police personnel to be deployed

Dehradun: The police administration has stepped up preparations for the Char Dham Yatra. On April 10, DGP Deepam Seth held a high-level meeting with officials to review arrangements related to security, traffic, and crowd management.

It was decided that two ADGs and four IGs will conduct field inspections of all pilgrimage sites and routes. Around 7,000 police personnel will be deployed круглосуточно during the Yatra. The entire व्यवस्था has been divided into 16 super zones and 149 sectors, with 118 parking locations identified.

24×7 monitoring through control room
An integrated control room has been established for round-the-clock monitoring of security, traffic, crowd, and disaster management. ATS teams will also be deployed, and 57 tourist police centers along with 48 halting points will assist pilgrims.

Identification of sensitive locations
Authorities have identified 52 bottleneck points, 109 landslide-prone areas, 274 accident-prone spots, and 61 black spots along the route. Additional police deployment and warning systems will be placed at these locations.

High-tech security arrangements
To make the Yatra high-tech, 92 CCTV cameras have been installed at the shrines and 1,168 cameras along the routes. Additionally, 15 drones will be used for aerial surveillance. Pilgrims will receive live updates on traffic and weather through mobile alerts.

Disaster preparedness and safety
Disaster response teams will be stationed at 80 locations, with SDRF at 37 points. Eight NDRF teams and two sub-teams will be deployed across Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag. Fire services will be available at 30 locations, and water police divers at 32 points.

Offline registration and help centers
Nine offline registration centers have been set up, along with 57 tourist police assistance centers to provide immediate help to pilgrims.

Monitoring cyber fraud
To prevent fraud in online registration and helicopter bookings, STF has been directed to maintain strict vigilance on fake websites.

Strict implementation of SOP
Strict adherence to SOPs regarding mobile phone and camera usage at shrines will be ensured. Activities of YouTubers and bloggers will also be monitored, and private drone usage will be prohibited.

DGP Deepam Seth stated that the Char Dham Yatra is the state’s largest religious event, attracting lakhs of pilgrims from India and abroad, and ensuring a safe and smooth यात्रा is the top priority of the police.
