Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has made several provisions in the 2026-27 budget for youth development, skill enhancement and employment generation.
The government has emphasized strengthening schemes related to education, entrepreneurship, skill development and sports. Officials believe empowering youth will accelerate the state’s overall development.
Under the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme, college campuses are being developed as hubs of innovation and entrepreneurship. More than 300 students have started startups under the scheme, while many have received initial financial support.
More than 1,240 students have formally registered their enterprises and are receiving assistance in marketing and branding. Some students have also filed patent applications for their innovations.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the scheme aims to connect youth with innovation, technology and entrepreneurial risk-taking.
Technical education institutions in Dehradun, Ranipokhri, Narendra Nagar, Srinagar, Dwarahat, Nainital, Kashipur and Lohaghat are providing modern training to thousands of students.
A Hub-and-Spoke model has also been proposed to integrate polytechnics, ITIs, higher education institutions and secondary schools to improve employability.
Key Budget Provisions for Youth
- ₹7.11 crore for entrepreneurship, skill and innovation schemes
- ₹7.60 crore for Doon Library and Research Centre
- ₹7 crore for e-libraries in government colleges
- ₹1 crore for research and development
- ₹15 crore scholarships under the school education department
- ₹15 crore scholarships under the higher education department
- ₹4 crore for expansion of the Lab on Wheels scheme
- ₹13.5 crore sports scholarships
- ₹60 crore for Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme
- ₹10 crore for migration prevention scheme
- ₹62.29 crore for Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Scheme
The government says these initiatives will create better opportunities for youth in education, employment and sports.
