Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the under-construction Science City project at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and participated in a symposium on the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP).
He announced that land would be provided within the UCOST campus for establishing a Startup Centre.
The Chief Minister said the Science City would emerge as a major hub for research, innovation, and scientific education.
He also inaugurated community science radio station “Vigyan Vani” (88.8 MHz), “Vigyan Drishyam,” and “Vigyan Dhara” under the “Vigyan Setu” initiative.
Dhami emphasized that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Drones, Data Science, Biotechnology, and Semiconductors will shape the future, and Uttarakhand must prepare to lead in these areas.
The state has already implemented its first Science, Technology and Innovation Policy to promote innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
He also highlighted ongoing expansion of Science & Innovation Centres, Labs on Wheels, Digital Libraries, Patent Information Centres, STEM Labs, GIS-based technologies, AI, Robotics, Drone Technology, Semiconductor research, and Pre-Incubation Labs.
