Dehradun: Renowned filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on making Uttarakhand a major center for film production and increasing investment.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand, with its natural beauty, diverse locations, and rich cultural heritage, is highly suitable for film shooting. The government aims to make the state a top choice for filmmakers from India and abroad.
He stated that under the state’s film policy, producers are being given subsidies, tax exemptions, and other facilities. A single-window system has also been implemented to provide all shooting-related permissions in an easy and time-bound manner, simplifying the filmmaking process.
CM Dhami said that many films, TV shows, and web series have already been shot in Uttarakhand, making it a rapidly emerging favorite location among filmmakers. The state’s valleys, lakes, religious, and historical sites are attracting creators.
He also mentioned that the state has received the national award for “Most Film Friendly State,” reflecting the success of government policies. Additionally, a location bank has been developed to provide filmmakers access to various शूटिंग locations on a single platform.
The Chief Minister said that the film industry is creating new employment opportunities for local youth. The government is encouraging local artists and technicians and also running training programs.
Madhur Bhandarkar praised the natural beauty of Uttarakhand and said the state has immense potential for film production. He also expressed his desire to shoot here in the future.
CM Dhami expressed confidence that the expansion of the film industry will strengthen the state’s economy and boost tourism.
