Financial Hardship Should Not Block Justice, Avail Free Legal Aid: Justice Tiwari

Gopeshwar. A multipurpose legal awareness camp was organized on Sunday at the auditorium of Government Post Graduate College, Gopeshwar, under the aegis of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital. During the camp, Uttarakhand High Court Judge and Executive Chairman of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, along with Judge Alok Mahra, informed students and the general public about the Constitution, legal rights, free legal aid, and easy access to justice.

Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari stated that the objective of the Legal Services Authority is to deliver justice to every section of society, especially the economically and socially weaker sections. He emphasized that no individual should be deprived of justice due to financial difficulties, which is why free legal aid has been instituted. He urged people to remain aware of their legal rights and seek assistance from the Legal Services Authority whenever needed.

Pradeep Kumar Mani, Member Secretary of SALSA, shared information regarding free legal assistance, Lok Adalats, mediation, and other services provided by the Legal Services Authority. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. NCC cadets from PG College Gopeshwar and Government Inter College Gopeshwar welcomed the guests. Students also performed Saraswati Vandana, a welcome song, and a folk dance.

During the camp, aid was distributed to beneficiaries of various government department schemes. This included hearing aids, Atal Housing benefits, wheelchairs, labor kits, and Mahalaxmi kits, among others.

Distinguished officials present at the event included District and Sessions Judge and District Legal Services Authority Chairman Bindhyachal Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sachin Kumar Pathak, Judicial Magistrate Hina Kausar, and Judicial Magistrate Gunjan Sisodia.

Following the program, Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari inspected stalls set up by various departments. He inquired about the services and schemes being offered to the public and instructed officials to ensure that scheme benefits reach eligible individuals in a simple and accessible manner.

The camp aimed to raise awareness among students and the general public regarding their legal rights, free legal assistance, and accessible pathways to justice.
