Fire Safety Audits for Hospitals, Coaching Centers and Malls; CM Dhami Issues Strict Instructions, Says Negligence in Fire Safety Standards Will Not Be Tolerated

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed authorities to conduct comprehensive fire safety audits across hospitals, coaching centers, large malls, hotels, commercial establishments, and other public-use buildings throughout the state. During a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister stated that public safety is the government’s highest priority and that any negligence in complying with fire safety standards will not be accepted.

He instructed officials to immediately identify institutions where firefighting arrangements do not meet prescribed standards and ensure necessary corrective measures are taken. Special attention should be given to checking the functionality of fire safety equipment, emergency exit routes, electrical safety systems, and preparedness for rapid evacuation during emergencies.

CM Dhami emphasized the need for better coordination among the Fire Services Department, district administration, and other concerned departments to complete the audit process within a fixed timeline. He directed officials to take immediate action wherever deficiencies in safety standards are found to prevent future accidents.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Hemant Dwivedi, Narinderjit Bindra, Anand Bardhan, and other senior government officers.
