Dehradun/Haridwar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during his visit to Haridwar, performed the Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stones for various development projects under the Ganga Corridor, to be undertaken at an estimated cost of approximately ₹235 crore. Following the ceremony, he reviewed the preparations for the Kanwar Mela at the CCR Building and directed officials to complete all arrangements in a timely manner.
The Chief Minister said that ensuring the convenience of Shiva devotees visiting the Kanwar Mela is the government’s highest priority. He directed officials to ensure adequate arrangements for electricity, drinking water, roads, traffic management, security, cleanliness of the ghats, parking, and public toilets. Separate toilet facilities will also be provided for women devotees this year. He appealed to local residents, the saint community, and all concerned departments to work in coordination to welcome the Kanwariyas and ensure a safe pilgrimage.
CM Dhami said that the Ganga Corridor project will provide a new identity to Haridwar’s spiritual, religious, and tourism significance. He added that the project will boost tourism while creating new employment opportunities for local people.
Under these projects, ₹58.84 crore will be spent on the beautification of the Rodibelwala area, ₹66.76 crore on the development of Har Ki Pauri, ₹66.34 crore on the beautification of North Har Ki Pauri, and ₹43.25 crore on the development of the Administrative Route Corridor.
During the visit, the Chief Minister also participated in the Kisan Samvad and Aam Party programmes organised by the BJP. He said that the state government is continuously working for the overall development of Haridwar and to provide better facilities for pilgrims.
