This decision is being seen as a sign of the government’s commitment and respect for the sacrifices and dedication of those involved in the statehood movement.
Pension increased for those who were jailed or injured for the state: According to the government’s decision, the monthly pension of agitators who were jailed for seven days or injured during the Uttarakhand statehood movement has been increased from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000. This increase will bring relief to those agitators who played an active role in the fight for statehood and faced difficult circumstances.
Pension increased by ₹1,000 for other state agitators: Similarly, the pension of agitators other than those who were jailed or injured has also been increased. Agitators falling in this category will now receive a monthly pension of ₹5,500 instead of ₹4,500. The government believes that all those who contributed to the statehood movement should receive equal respect and support.
Pension increased by ₹30,000 for those who became disabled during the statehood movement: The most significant decision has been taken for those agitators who became completely bedridden due to disability during the movement. The special pension for such agitators has been increased from ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 per month. This increase has been made keeping in mind the increasing expenses related to their medical and care, to help them live a better life.
Pension of families of martyred agitators also increased: The pension of dependents of agitators martyred in the statehood movement has also been significantly increased. While previously receiving a pension of ₹3000 per month, it has now been increased to ₹5500 per month. This decision reflects the government’s sensitivity and responsibility towards the families of the martyrs.
